The 43rd annual Cavalcade of Lights presented by Scotiabank returns to Nathan Phillips Square from November 28 – December 31, 2009.

The festivities kick-off on Saturday, November 28 at 7 p.m. with the lighting of Toronto’s official Christmas tree, fireworks and live musical performances by Steven Page, Matt Dusk, Keshia Chante, and Fritz Helder & the Phantoms, under the music direction of Adrian Eccleston. The concert culminates in a spectacular fireworks display at 8 p.m., followed by a skating party on the iconic rink with tunes provided by DJ Tony Sutherland. The Fair Trade Christmas Market will feature gifts, candles, accessories, coffee, tea, chocolates, advent calendars and Christmas decorations from around the world. It will be open on November 28 from 2 – 10 p.m.

The fireworks, free concerts and skating parties continue Saturday nights in December from 7 p.m. featuring:

  • December 5
Jully Black with a skating party by DJ Jun
  • December 12
State of Shock with a skating party by Promise DJs
  • December 19
Faber Drive with a skating party by DJ Misty

Beyond Nathan Phillips Square, the Cavalcade of Lights Festival spans city-wide, illuminating neighbourhoods and tourist attractions. Many of these will feature a free LED-light exchange offered by Toronto Hydro. Residents can visit Toronto Hydro for complete details.
