Dear Ward 35 Resident,

I am writing in response to an anonymous flyer being circulated in the Ward which alludes to contracting out services in the new Warden Hilltop Community Centre.

This document is not a product of any City of Toronto department, nor from my office.

Originally this community centre was going to be a 12,000 to 14,000 square-foot facility. However, because this would not serve the diverse and growing needs of our community, I worked for a solid year to double the funding for the centre and expand it to its present size of over 26,000 square feet.

When this project began, I ensured that we had an extensive consultation process with the community, city staff and every service organization that provides services to Ward 35 residents. Furthermore, I insisted that we have adequate park space and that this centre be a leading-edge facility in every sense of the word.

In 2010, we will all enjoy the fruits of these efforts, and this letter confirms that I am 100 percent committed to providing the absolutely best service to the community of Ward 35 at this facility, with full access and diverse programming as the top priority. You have my word.
