Dear Ward 35 Resident,
With all the enquiries via our community website, I realized it was time to update residents on the many activities taking place in the ward.
Many of you have been attending the community consultations on the new community centre, and I want to thank all of you that have participated so far. This project is only one of two new community centre projects in the whole City of
In the spring, I will be announcing a number of new Ward 35 park "rehabilitation" projects and the creation of new parks in the ward. I strongly believe that all residential development must include supporting amenities for existing and new residents.
On the development front, we are now confirmed for a spring start to renovating Victoria Park Subway Station and the results will be seen by 2010! You can see the outline for the project on the TTC’s website at http://www.toronto.ca/ttc/pdf/vic_park_stn_mod_presentation.pdf . The Warden Subway station consultation meetings will be announced in the near future to start this project; another exciting development in the ward.
In conjunction with the Victoria Park Station redevelopment, we have just approved the Danforth Avenue Study, which lays down an excellent foundation on which to start the process of redeveloping this valuable area over time.
As many of you may have read, the "Blue Ribbon Panel" report was made public recently and has provided some excellent ideas as well as reinforcing existing strategies within the city. As a member of the Budget Committee, I am always interested in ensuring that we get full value from our expenditures, both in the city and in my ward.
As we move slowly towards spring, I hope to see many of you at the door as the warmer weather eventually arrives.
Until then, if you have any questions, by all means drop me a line or email me through our website.
Regards,
Adrian
