Councillor Heaps Launches New Community Website!

October 29, 2009

Dear Ward 35 Resident,

Welcome to the latest edition of the new Ward 35 community website!

Over the course of handling community questions and concerns, we noticed that many of you were asking for easier online access to information on news and events taking place in your neighbourhood. You asked for easier community newsletter registration, better photo galleries, links to important city-run activities, and better advertising of upcoming events. We heard you and have responded.

This is a site meant for you, the residents. It has easier navigation, offers better access to information, and allows us to better engage the community.  Our website now includes monthly surveys that will help my office “stay in touch” with what residents are concerned about in their community. If you have an idea for our survey, please contact me with your suggestions.

I am confident that you will appreciate this update as much as I do and encourage you to contact my office with your stories, events, and pictures of community events to be posted and shared with the community.

I also want to take a minute to briefly mention the Councillor Heaps E-newsletter.  The E-newsletter is an excellent tool that offers convenient, up-to-date information on the many activities taking place in the Ward. It allows my office to keep residents informed on a regular basis, especially when there are so many new developments which might be taking place. Although flyers and printed material will continue to be used, we plan to make greater use of this tool in the future to help reduce office budget spending as well as cut down on the hundreds of pounds of paper it takes to send out a printed notice.

If you have not yet signed up for the E-newsletter, I highly encourage you to do so. I also ask that you encourage your friends and neighbours to sign up as well. There will be several forthcoming announcements on the new Ward 35 Community Centre, upcoming community events, and development updates that will be of interest to you all. (Your contact information is protected under the City of Toronto’s privacy rules and regulations, and is only used to communicate with you. It is not shared with any other department or group, and we take every measure to ensure its protection. )

I recognize that there is no substitution for knocking on doors and personally talking with residents one-on-one. With over 7,000 households in the ward, however, it takes some time to reach you all! In the meantime, I look forward to meeting you are community events and encourage you to check out the website and let us know what you think.

Until I see you at the door.

Regards,

Adrian
